Welcome to the Northwest Suburban Music Teachers Association

NWSMTA is an organization of independent music teachers from the Northwest Chicago suburbs.  The purpose of this association is to further the art of music and music education. Members of NWSMTA have access to programs that support and encourage teaching and provide performance opportunities for students and teachers alike.

We are a local affiliate of the Illinois State Music Teachers Association (ISMTA) and the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA).  Membership benefits include:

  • Monthly programs presented by experts in the field of music education and related areas
  • Performance festivals and adjudicated events for students
  • Local, state, and national conferences and workshops
  • A subscription to the award winning magazine, American Music Teacher
  • National certification through MTNA
  • Networking opportunities with other teachers

If you are a teacher, we invite you to visit one of our monthly meetings.  Click here for meeting times and directions.  If you are a parent or student looking for a teacher, please take advantage of our Find a Teacher page to find a qualified teacher in your area.
