Student Scholarships
Congratulations to our 2010 Summer Music Camp Scholarship winners!

Each year, NWSMTA provides at least two scholarships of not less than $150 for students of NWSMTA teachers to attend a summer music camp of their choice.
Entry deadline: April 30
Junior Division: through 8th grade
Senior Division: 9th through 12th grade

Entrance Requirements
Entrants must submit the following materials to the chairperson of the Scholarship Committee by the deadline of April 30:
- A good quality cassette or CD recording of their performance of music representing at least three contrasting styles, not to exceed ten minutes for junior entries or fifteen minutes for senior entries. Each piece shall be played in its entirety. Repeats are at the discretion of the teacher. Do not put the teacher's name on the recording.
- A completed application form. Click here for a printable form.
- A list of contents of the recording in the order played. The title of each piece, as well as opus numbers or collections, and composers should be included.
- An essay not to exceed 200 words stating why the student would like to attend a summer music camp.
- A summary of participation in musical activities sponsored by NWSMTA and in school, church and community.
Scholarship Rules
- Students must currently study the instrument they are auditioning with (piano, voice, etc.) from a member of NWSMTA.
- The student recordings and materials will be forwarded by the scholarship committee chair to a judge who is not a member of NWSMTA. The judge will select a winner in each division, as well as a first and second alternate.
- Scholarship money will be sent directly to the summer music camp of the student's choice. A list of camp suggestions is available from the committee chair.
- The committee/judge has the right to declare no winnner, or to award additional scholarships.
